V roce 1966, tedy před padesáti lety, začalo tehdejší Nakladatelství ČSAV, založené roku 1953, užívat název Academia. Od té doby vydalo úctyhodný počet zhruba čtyř a půl tisíce knih, mezi jejichž autory bychom našli patrně všechny významné české vědce, reprezentující všechny vědní obory. Toto jubileum připomíná sborník sestavený z více než dvou desítek příspěvků autorů a spolupracovníků Nakladatelství Academia. Jejich úvahy, krátká vyznání, vzpomínky a glosy doplňuje kompletní bibliografie nakladatelství od roku 1966 do současnosti.
